Chapters 15-17

Chapter 14 ends with David being beaten unconscious again. Once he regains consciousness, in chapter 15, he realizes that he is being dragged by Sophie. I'm actually kind of happy to read this because I like Sophie, and her and David were very close friends. Sophie helps David to get back into the Fringes town to rescue his friends so that they can continue on with their 'adventure'. David communicates to Michael who tells them that the people following Petra, Rosalind, and David are moving slowly because they are being attacked by the Fringe people. With the author making you think that those three are getting away, it makes me want to think that something surprising is going to happen soon.
In chapter 16, Rosalind questions why Sophie is so willing to help the three of them out. To me, I in a way see this as foreshadowing. Maybe later Sophie will stab them in the back by telling their secret or something? Also in this chapter, The Sealand gives us a description of the bad lands. Describing it as all black grass; and ocean of frozen ink. I like this because it helps me get a mental picture of the book; something that I have found difficult to do. Later Michael talks to David and warns him about the group of people from Waknuk coming to attack them. One of them being Joseph. Soon, a fight between the Fringes and Waknuk people start, just as Sophie heads outside. Gordon picks up Sophie and tries to run, and right then and there they are both shot and killed! This part I did not see coming. I thought for sure Sophie would be at the end of the book with some sort of remarkable ending. During the battle, a helicopter appears in the sky, catching everyone's attention and the war slowly dissolves. Some people fled, while others stayed. A strange substance dispenses from the helicopter paralyzing everyone it touches, including Michael and David.
In the final chapter, The Sealand woman comes down from the helicopter wearing a special suit so that the substance doesn't affect her. She also has some sort of spray that can remove it from others; she sprays this on David, Michael, Petra, and Rosalind. The Sealand woman explains how she doesn't enjoy killing people, but only the fittest will survive. In this case, the telepathic. Finally, David, Rosalind, and Petra arrive at Sealand (Michael went back to Rachel), and it was everything David had dreamed of. They were so excited to see that everyone there was telepathic, like them. With Petra's strong power, people started to complain because it actually hurt them. That's when they realized that Petra was the new "version" of telepaths. After this, it brings us to the end of the book! My thoughts on the ending were okay. Nothing was surprising, no cliffhanger, it was just the ending that I had expected. Overall, the book itself isn't something I'd pick up on my own, but I thought it was a fairly interesting, and well-written book.

Chapters 13-14

In chapter 13, a man starts talking to the group. With no other choice, they knock him off his horse and ride off quickly. On their journey, they are shot at and decide to take shelter in the woods. Once they fell like the coast is clear, they head out, to only have David hit in the head and lose consciousness. I think they are in big danger and honestly don't think they can keep it up much longer. I don't really know what to expect next.
In chapter 14, David becomes conscious again and they realize that they have been captured by the Fringe man. I don't know about them, but if I were in their spot, I'd be freaking out because it's becoming extremely and increasingly more difficult to keep their power a secret. Later, David meets this spider-like man who he had met previously and notices that he looks identical to Joseph, later to find out that this man is David's uncle. However, Gordon's informality wasn't found out until he was four-years-old. Thankfully though his mother was able to save him from, but Gordon promises himself that he will get revenge on Waknuk. In particular, his brother. This part of the book kind of excites me. I feel like something significant is going to happen between David's uncle and father. But, I have no idea what it could be!

Chapters 11-12

In chapter 11, Petra rides her pony to a place where she isn't allowed to go. There, she is attacked by beast and so she telepathically sends messages to David. David manages to shoot the beast and rescue Petra, but her pony did not make it. A man named Jerome Skinner questioned them out of suspicion. When he saw nothing wrong, he left. After reading up to chapter 11, I see Petra as a little trouble-maker. It seems that David has had to rescue her a few times. Also, by now, I thought that people would already have known about their telepathic ability. I predict that it will come soon.
In chapter 12, the inspector captured Sally and Katherine. When David and Petra find out about this (telepathically of course) they sneak out of their house. I think as the chapter go on, keeping their secret seems to get more and more difficult. 

Chapters 9-10

In chapter 9, David is just working out in the fields when he feels the need to run, fast. He realizes that his younger sister, Petra, is drowning and he gets there in time to save her. People question how he knew that she was drowning. David tries to cover it up by saying that Petra was yelling for help loudly, and he wondered why nobody else heard her. When truthfully, she telepathically told him. I think David ability is slowly getting out of hand and somebody is going to find out about it soon. I just wonder who will, maybe his father and then he'll get really upset?

In chapter 10, one of the people David can communicate to, Anne, is getting married. When her husband, the same person who saw Sophie's sixth toe, is killed Anne commits suicide. They find her body with a not listing all the names of the people she has been talking to telepathically. The letter is burned right away. Like I said previously, David's power is becoming to get out of control. I think all of these events are leading up to the one where someone discovers that all these people are talking telepathically.

Chapters 7-8

In chapter 7, David's mother gives birth to a baby girl. In their world, a baby is not considered 'existent' until it receives a certificate saying that there is nothing wrong with the baby. After receiving the certificate, they welcome baby Petra. When David's aunt comes to visit, she desperately tries to convince her sister to love her baby; Harriet. However, she has not gotten the certificate of approval because she knows that the the baby doesn't meat the standards. The fact that they brought up the topic of the baby in their house upsets David' mom. This makes me think of how ridiculously serious they take things. At least David's Aunt looks past the fact that her baby isn't 'normal' but learns to love her anyways. In chapter 8, David begins to learn things about the people he has been talking to telepathically. I think that giving out your name would put you into more danger. If they didn't know who you were, how could they find you if they were looking (for any reason)? I like the fact that David is slowing grasping onto his telepathic ability and is starting to see the effects of it more. Telepathy isn't being abnormal, it's super cool!

Chapters 5-6

In chapter 5, David is pressured into telling Sophie's secret. And to be honest, I didn't think he would tell it so soon. I figured that her sixth toe couldn't have been kept a secret throughout the entire book, but I thought it would be told till a little later. When David gets beaten by his father, I feel it continues to help us get a better understanding of David's lifestyle; seeing how strict his father is. When Sophie and her family feel that they are forced to move away, I think it's really cute and sweet that David insists to go with them. Obviously he can't so he stays the night in a vacant house. I liked how in chapters 5 and 6 the tables are turning and things are starting to get a bit more complicated. Sophie's secret is out and David is starting to suffer the consequences. I'm excited to see what comes next!

Chapters 3-4

At the beginning of chapter 3, David received a splinter. Going into the kitchen to seek help, he soon realized that everybody was busy so, he tried to help himself. When his mother saw the struggle David was in to wrap his own hand, she offered assistance. He then casually stated that he would be able to do it himself if he had three hands. This did not sit well with his father, and he became enraged that David would say such a thing. He was baffled at the thought of wanting to be different. They fought over saying it would be easier, and wanting to be different. It's at this part of the book that we start to get a better understanding of what the average life is like. Trying to be normal, wanting to be normal. However in chapter 4, David shows us that he has telepathic capabilities. Overall, I really liked these chapters. I thought they were different and interesting. They gave us a better look on their world. Also after chapter four, the book cover starts to explain itself better.

Chapters 1-2

The beginigng of the book really interested me. I liked the setting; it's kind of like a normal place, but different at the same time. I'm kind of a fan of fictional alien-like characters, but sometimes I'm not. I fell the author portrayed Sophie as a different person. However, if her toes are covered up, you would not be able to tell any different. My guess for the theme of the book, juding from the first two chapters, is not to judge people based just on what you see. Overall, I think the beginning of the book has a good grab and the author did a good job of catching the readers attention.
